Ballet as we know it know became concrete in the 19th century, but is the foundation for most forms of dance today, and is the single most important discipline for any serious student. Through highly stylized movements, we learn fluidity and grace, we develop structure and discipline, and we build balance and strength. Our ballet classes are centered around the Vaganova method, but Cechetti and Balanchine principles are also explored, creating a well-rounded dancer.
Tap is performed in shoes with metal taps on the soles and toes of the shoes to create sounds through movement. While our major focus in our tap classes is Broadway-style tap, rhythm tap is also explored.
Jazz/Street is a combination of the fundamentals of classical jazz technique, derived from African American vernacular dances of the 19th & early 20th century, and built on by legendary artists like Giordano, Mattox, and Fosse, combined with the newest and latest innovations in dance today. We also blend in basic hip-hop knowledge and moves for a fun and energetic class with lots of possibilities.
Acro Dance is a style of dance that incorporates gymnastic elements. Mats, spotting, and other apparatus and props are used when necessary to help students gain greater confidence in new tumbling skills. We utilize an open gym format, allowing individual students the ability to work on different skills at the same time, based on their level and ability.
Contemporary & Modern dance styles are explored in this combination class. Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz and ballet dance. Through improvisational exercises, we connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements. focus on floorwork and performing to many different styles of music.
